Update on Penelope Baine
Penny had surgery on 1/31 to put a shunt in so fluid would drain off the brain. On Friday, she was back at CHOA with a fever. She was released on Saturday. On Monday 2/7 she was back in the hospital awaiting the possibility of another surgery.
Update on Tuesday: Neurosurgeon just came in. He’s not worried about her full soft spot. Just going to continue measuring circumference of her head and watch out for any more fluid draining. Other than that he said she looks good and is releasing us today. And then we have a Spina Bifida clinic appointment with him and the rest of her doctors on 2/14.

Joe and Elsie Mize’s grandson Evan is being tested for Pancreatitis and is in a lot of pain. Please pray for Evan. Joe and Elsie thank you for your prayers.

Update from Mollie Mostert
I got my visa on Monday morning for Pakistan so there is very little time. I’m planning to leave Sunday 2-13 in the evening for another trip to Pakistan. Used cellphones, tablets and laptops are needed by staff there. If anyone can donate any of these items, that would be wonderful! I’ll be at midweek and Sunday service. Prayers deeply appreciated for this trip. I’ll be home 3-1. Many thanks.

Lisa Washington’s sister Tracey Sims lost her husband David on January 18. Please pray for Tracey and the family. If you would like to help Tracey with the funeral expenses, reply to this email for more information.

SINGING AND ACTING CLASS OFFERED

Hello Parents/Guardians,

The Athens Church of Christ is offering a singing and acting class starting this Sunday, February 13 and will be held every 2nd Sunday of each month. The class is from 10:30am-12:00pm (during service). The class is being taught by Lee Sugarman, Seyoung Holte and Rebecca Mapes. The class is for ages 5-14 (PreK-Middle School). Attached is a brief description of each teacher’s experience. This class is also being offered to the children in our community. If your child is interested, please let me know via email or text 706-713-6727, so we can accommodate each child.

Thank you for your interest in the Singing and Acting class offered by the Athens Church of Christ. We are fortunate enough to have some amazing talent in our congregation. Here is a brief description of the experience each teacher brings to the class.

SEYOUNG HOLTE
Seyoung is a lifelong musician and teacher. Her love for music & theater and teaching began at a very young age continued throughout her school years; singing, acting, playing instruments, and directing choirs at school and church. She had served many years as a music ministry co-leader at Seoul International Church of Christ before moving to GA, and has been serving in the music ministry here at the Athens Church of Christ since 2002. She enjoys singing with Athens Master Choral and performs at UGA Hodgson Concert Hall and the Classic Center. When she was a classroom teacher, Seyoung wrote four plays and directed over 60 shows. She also wrote and directed four church Christmas plays including Christmas Carol (revised), The Christmas Bell, Love Came at Christmas, and the most recent play, The Gift. She loves storytelling through music and play, and believes that the best learning happens when children are involved in creating something beautiful together. She looks forward to making music and building memories with the children at Athens Church of Christ this year.

LEE SUGARMAN
Lee Sugarman has been acting all his life. As a father, a husband, a credit manager, etc. You know – “All the world is a stage.” And over the last 12 years, Lee has performed in 9 plays (over 50 shows) on the real stage at the Winder Barrow Community Theater. Lee has also acted/ directed 4 church Christmas plays. He is excited about the opportunity to share any experiences of his with the children of Athens Church of Christ.

REBBECA MAPES
Rebecca Mapes is a mom, Baba, organizer, and teacher. I love children, both my own and yours. I have always enjoyed being with children and working with them as a teacher, coach, or friend. I have had the opportunity during the last few years to be a part of the Christmas Program. I so enjoyed watching the children use their natural talents and creativity to bring joy and laughter to our fellowship. I want to be a part of a class that allows for creativity, movement, and singing to promote a love for Jesus.
