Prayer Requests

Anthony Alford’s sister Precilla Penson was admitted into the hospital for the flu and Covid. She is having a lot of anxiety which is causing her O2 levels to keep dropping. She is scared and without any family members with her due to Covid restrictions. Anthony asks that we please continue to pray for complete healing.

Matt Buehler’s mother Millie Buehler passed away yesterday. She lived in Oregon and Matt was thankfully able to visit her last month. Cards of sympathy may be sent to 175 Farm Lakeside Drive, Winder, GA 30680.

Barbara Warnock’s father and Jenique Williamses’ grandfather Clifton Warnock passed away recently. Cards of sympathy may be sent to 216 Dyches Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.

A NOTE FROM KINDRED

Hello and Merry Christmas, Brothers and Sisters!

Please see below if you are interested in learning more about what is happening to help Africa through the ministries of HOPE Worldwide. The support of disciples here in the Athens Church of Christ has helped to make this a reality!

Early Childhood Development (ECD)

2021 Impact

Poverty is robbing millions of young children in South Africa of their potential primarily because of a lack of adequate nutrition, stimulation, and nurturing. HOPE worldwide South Africa (HWSA) has been working for over two decades to address this and give vulnerable children better futures.

Working across 7 provinces and 46 sites, HWSA has targeted disadvantaged communities in urban settings with large numbers of vulnerable families and children.

Many communities lack basic resources including adequate preschools, social and health services and support to parents and caregivers. Most parents and caregivers are unemployed, are single mothers, living in shacks or poor housing and who struggle to make ends meet. Many families go to bed hungry at night and over 50% of their children do not attend a preschool due to poverty.

Over the course of the year, HWSA has worked to support preschools and parents to ensure vulnerable children get the support they need to thrive. Here is a summary of what we achieved.

We are incredibly grateful for the tremendous support we have received from individual, corporate and other donors. Together, we are bringing hope and changing lives.

REQUEST FROM MOLLIE MOSTERT

BOARD GAMES NEEDED FOR ORPHANAGES IN INDIA

Gently used Monopoly, Chinese Checkers, Dominoes (double 6,9,12) games wanted to take to India in early January. These are for the orphanage in southern India. All the girls there have Aids. Hope Worldwide has two other orphanages there who would be very happy to have these games. They live on a survival budget, with no money for this type of thing.
Many thanks,
Mollie
