Prayer Request Updates

Please continue to keep Zach and Halie Clark in your prayers as well as the Clark/Hunter families as they mourn the devastating loss of sweet baby Caroline Grace. Cards of sympathy may be sent to Zach and Halie at 11200 Parsons Road, Johns Creek, GA 30097; Erwin and Debbie Clark at 1380 Maxeys Road, Union Point, GA 30669; Alex and Patti Hunter and family to 11122 Parsons Road, Johns Creek, GA 30097.

Update on Jack LaPrade from Carol Pirie (grandmother):
Jack has pneumonia in both lungs – upper lobes only. His white blood count is high. He has yeast around his trach site. He has developed red spots around his mouth and in his eyelids which could be fungal. The infection or fungus could be life threatening so he’s on antifungal while waiting for a blood culture and he’s on antibiotics based on a lung culture taken last week. Jack is now off his paralytic, sedative, and pain med drip. He is on decreasing doses of Valium and methadone to keep him from having withdrawal. Please pray for healing and quick homecoming! His sisters still have not met him and he was born in May.
With all that said, pneumonia and yeast are common after a trach and he seems to already be responding to the antibiotics. You all are such a blessing to us with your continued prayers.
Love to you all!
Carol

Greetings Family!

This holiday season, we are approaching our The Giving Tree program slightly differently in order to meet the various needs within our church family due to the pandemic. As with each year of this program, we have seen an overwhelming response from our church membership to meet the needs identified by this program and expect this year to be another amazing year of generosity.

The goal of our Giving Tree program is to assist any member or member family who may need additional help providing Christmas gifts to their children. If you or a family you know of could use some additional support for the holidays, please contact us by email at acocservant@gmail.com or text us at 706-202-1833 with their name and support details so that we can encourage and share the joy of this holiday season with that family.

How can you help and participate? Please consider making a gift donation at church on Sunday, December 13th. This will be the last day we will be collecting.
This year we will not have a tree in the courtyard with tags but rather be collecting monies to buy gift cards. Therefore, we will have a table set up on Sunday to take donations or gift cards. We are also providing additional methods to gather donations for The Giving Tree:

·       Venmo: Athens Church of Christ (@AthensChurchof-Christ). Note, there is no transaction fee but please add “The Giving Tree” in comment line.
·       Giving tab on the website (athenscoc.com) under “Giving Tree.” Note, there is a transaction fee but please consider including the transaction fee with your gift donation.
·       Mail a check by December 9th. Make checks out to the church and please add “The Giving Tree” to the memo section. Mail checks to: ACOC, 3720 Mars Hill Road, Watkinsville, GA 30677.
·       Buy a gift card: Amazon, VISA, Walmart, Target, Old Navy, Marshall’s, and TJ Maxx

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
Galatians 6:10

Thank you for your consideration and participation in this holiday program.

WOMEN’S MINISTRY EVENT THIS FRIDAY NIGHT!

Please join us for an outside night of fellowship + fun on December 11th @ 7pm around the fire-pit at the home of Meg Bullock. Plan on social distancing, wearing a mask and denying yourself of hugging.

Here is the Bullock’s address & directions:
2545 Spratlin Mill Rd
Hull, Georgia
It is a newer gravel driveway on the back part of her property that leads straight back to the fire-pit. Follow luminaries for parking.
On some GPS systems it doesn’t recognize it (you’ll pass driveway if you follow GPS). Meg will have balloons on the street marker sign to indicate.

Feel free to invite your friends!

ANY MORE GRADUATES TO HONOR?

This Sunday we will be honoring a couple more graduates! If you or someone you know has graduated recently or is going to graduate soon, please reply to this email so we can be sure to include you/them on Sunday. Thank you!
