Hi Friends,

My name is Matt Tinnell and I am the Assistant Band director at Jackson County Comprehensive High School (JCCHS) in Jefferson, Georgia.  As we all know, budget cuts have hit education hard, so my students do not have all of the instruments we need to perform pieces of music.  Donors Choose is a website that provides a way to help teachers equip their classroom for their students without it coming out of their personal accounts.  My project is called “Conga, Conga’ CONGA!”  To say we are in dire need of new Conga drums and bongos is an understatement.  The heads cannot be replaced on the drums because they do make those sizes anymore (they were purchased almost 30 years ago – the original band director gave me that information!).

I want to make sure my students have what they need to succeed, so I just created a DonorsChoose classroom request.

Conga, Conga, CONGA!

Tuesday, Decemeber 1st is Giving Tuesday!  Every donation will be doubled that day.  So if you give $25, it will be matched and turn into $50.  It is also a tax write off (you can check a box at ‘checkout’ to receive it).
Your support would mean so much to my students. In return, you’ll get awesome photos of your gift in action and our heartfelt thanks.

Thank you so much,
Matt

P.S. If you know anyone who may want to help my students, please pass this along!

AN OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE

Each year Family Promise of Athens (formerly Interfaith Hospitality Network) collects Walmart, Kroger, Target, and Visa gift cards (of any amounts) to distribute to our guests and recent alumni so they can shop for Christmas presents for their children. Please help us to get the word out to folks who might be looking for ways to make a difference this holiday season. We would like any cards donated to be in our offices as soon as possible to allow ample time to distribute the cards to our families. They can be mailed to the address below.
As always, please call with questions.
Grace and Peace,
Nathan
