We need not be anxious and afraid, but rather, in faith, FIGHT THE SPIRITUAL FIGHT with Fasting, Prayer, and Truth!
I want to thank all of you who participated along with me in our first weekly fast and prayer to ask God to teach and guide us, increase and strengthen our faith, and protect and ultimately deliver us all from this horrible Covid-19 pandemic.
Again, until this crisis lifts, we are inviting all the disciples in the Athens Church of Christ to fast from sundown Sundays until sundown Mondays and engage in special times of prayer as individuals, as families/households, and together virtually via online avenues, phones, etc. (If you need to pick a different time during the week, then feel free to do so).
In addition, we also want to remind you that this Thursday, March 26, will be a special day of prayer and fasting among disciples in the ICOC fellowship worldwide. Below is an excerpt sent to us from members of the International Churches of Christ:
“In one 24-hour period, from midnight to midnight on March 26th, we are asking disciples, our family members, and all of our friends who are willing, to participate in a worldwide day of fasting and prayer. Just imagine, in this time of challenge, for a whole day, the whole world will be bathed in the prayers of disciples of Jesus. And, given the wonderful unity and expanse of our global fellowship, that means someone will be praying practically every second of that 24-hour time… let us prepare to fully put our hearts before our good and gracious Father and ask Him to be our refuge and our strength in this time of trouble. We look forward to this time of connection.”
Take care, and lets keep praying for one another, serving as best we can, and loving our friends, neighbors, and those in need. In short, let’s keep our eyes on Jesus!
