All Night Prayer Meeting
February 4-5, 2011
Athens Church of Christ

This, then, is how you should pray… Matthew 6:9

8:30-9:30 early evening prayer time for those unable to be at all night session.

Session One: 10:30 PM

Our Father in Heaven, Holy Is Your Name

Theme and scriptures: Matt. 6:5-15, Luke 11:5-13. Matt. 18:19-20, Heb. 5:7, Col. 4:12. God is our loving father who is eager to hear and respond to our prayers. Let us confidently open and pour out our hearts to God tonight. Let us take our prayers to a level we have never gone before, allow our emotions and our feelings to be expressed, and not hold back! Let’s do whatever helps us to pray – get on our knees, raise holy hands, – but above all, be real.

Session Two:

Your Kingdom Come, Your Will Be Done

Theme and Scriptures: Col. 4:2-6, 2 Thess. 3:1, Matt. 9:36-38. 1 Tim. 2:1-4.
The first part of this session will be congregational prayer, led by selected brothers who handle specific parts of the list below:
ATL area churches, SE churches (including evangelists, elders), campus ministries. Clemson. Future plantings in GA and the SE. Caribbean churches and leaders. Our nation and leaders. For God to send workers into the harvest field.

The second part of this session we will have a larger group in the sanctuary, and others can go to pray alone or with one or more others. We should pray for specific people, for more workers, for those we long to be saved, and for our own hearts to be zealous in the mission.

Session Three:

Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven

Theme and Scriptures: Matt. 26:36-46, Gen. 22:1-18
Personal surrender. What do you need to lay on the altar tonight? We will dismiss everyone to pray alone.

Session Four:

Give us this day our daily bread

Scriptures and Theme: Phil. 4:6-7, 1 Pet. 5:7, Luke 11:5-13
First part of this session is congregational, with our elders Mike and Sam leading the prayers. We will hand out 3×5 cards and you can turn them in to request public prayers for the sick or for those experiencing trial or loss.

The second part of the session we will provide three larger groups:
1) health needs led by: Mike Shapiro
2) jobs and financial needs led by Jeff Rorabaugh.
3) our children led by Sonny Sessions
Others may choose to pray individually or with one or more partners.

Session Five:

Forgive us our sins, lead us not into temptation, deliver us from evil

Scriptures & theme: Matt 6:12-15, 18:21-35; Jas 5:16; 1 Jn 1:5-10; Prov 28:13; Psa 51
We need to lay out our sins before God and others, to have broken hearts, and get out anything that we need to expose to the light. This can be a time of release, freedom and breakthrough! For this session, get with a close, trusted friend(s) to pray about your struggles and needs. This is also a time to forgive and pray for anyone against whom we have held a grudge, or with whom we have been angry or bitter. It is a time to pray for our critics and our enemies.

Session Six (Special Session):

All Things Are Possible

Scriptures & theme: Eph. 3:20-21, Matt. 17:19-20, Mk 9:23, Luke 1:37
This session will be arranged by small groups of closer friends and is a time to lay before God our “impossible prayers” — our dreams and hopes, our “more than we ask or imagine” prayers. Go for it! Our God is able!!

Session Seven:

For yours is the kingdom, and the power and the glory

Scriptures & theme: Matt. 6:13, Eph.1:3-13, Rev.5
We will end our night on a note of praise and exultation. God is great and glorious. He is sovereign over our lives, his church and the world. We have laid our hearts before him, everything is now in his hands. Hallelujah! God Almighty reigns!!

Breakfast: 7:00 AM
